Christmas at Harvey Nichols - London’s Best Festive Menus

Festive Menu at Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge London

Harvey Nichols Christmas menu

This month I’ve been sampling the best festive menus in London and headed down to Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge to try their Christmas menu in the Fifth Floor Cafe and Terrace.

Of course, dining in a shopping establishment has the benefit of allowing you to fit in some Christmas shopping too, and this is exactly what I did!

Although it was a particularly busy shopping weekend for Harvey Nichols, when we reached the restaurant we were greeted by calm and professional staff who whisked us off to a lovely table at the end of the restaurant away from the hustle and bustle of the retail area. This was a thankful escape from the crowds and we settled down to enjoy their leisurely festive lunch.

The Fifth Floor Cafe is a bright, stylish space with an open kitchen and views out onto the terrace, where diners can also enjoy food and/or a few drinks.

Food?

The festive menu includes three courses, usually with a choice between a meat, fish or vegetarian dish.

For my starter I chose the cured duck, served with winter slaw, pecorino, crisp parsnips and sweet soy sauce. This was a remarkably fresh and light dish which worked perfectly as a first course.

For my main course I tried the sea bass with Jerusalem artichoke, shimeji and corn and pine nut butter noisette. The flavours in this dish blended well together and no ingredient on the plate felt out of place. In fact, the dish was so good I would have happily eaten more of it as the portion was a little on the smaller side.

Dessert is always one of my favourite courses and I opted for the pumpkin and white chocolate tart, served with candied pumpkin and white chocolate ice cream. This was a delicious dessert as the taste of the pumpkin wasn’t overpowering and complemented the subtle flavour of the white chocolate ice cream.

We also tried the vanilla pannacotta with poached quince and Champagne jelly. The Champagne was a prominent flavour in this dessert and ended the meal on a fabulous high!

Drinks?

I was particularly impressed with the cocktails at The Fifth Floor Cafe, the Champagne cocktail in particular was decadent and luxurious and a great way to celebrate a Christmas meal. They also offer classic cocktails and wine, Prosecco and Champagne with your meal.

Price?

The set festive menu at Harvey Nichols is priced at a very reasonable £33 for three courses. This is a great price for a three course meal in the location and with the service provided.

Overall?

One thing that stood out for me was the exemplary service at The Fifth Floor Cafe and Terrace. Even though the restaurant was very busy, our waiters had the time to cater to all our requests and check in with us as often as required. It is this service that makes a difference to the ambiance of a restaurant and resulted in a very enjoyable meal.

This festive menu is great value for money, and combine it with some Christmas shopping for a lovely day out!
