Akub - Is this the BEST Brunch in Notting Hill?

Location: Notting Hill
Price: £££
Overall: 5/5
Ideal for: Long brunches, special occasions, proper good food

Akub is a contemporary Palestinian restaurant tucked into one of Notting Hill’s prettiest corners. We visited for a relaxed birthday brunch and were completely won over by the food, the atmosphere, and the kind, thoughtful service.

The Decor

Akub feels like being welcomed into someone’s beautiful, light-filled home, if their home just so happened to serve some of the best Palestinian food in London.

The space is laid-back but stylish, with neutral tones, greenery, and lots of sunlight. It’s elegant without trying too hard, and the vibe is spot-on for a slow weekend brunch.

Brunch Dishes

We ordered from the Brunch Menu which featured a host of dishes celebrating bold, flavourful dishes that honour tradition while leaning into creativity.

Every dish was fresh, vibrant, and genuinely exciting to eat, the sort of brunch where you keep reaching across the table to try just one more bite.

Here’s what we loved:

Zahra Fritters – Cauliflower fritters fried until golden and crisp, served with coriander tahinia and sumac onions. Bursting with flavour and gone in seconds.

Bukjet Mousakhan – Tender chicken and caramelised onion wrapped in a flaky bread parcel, spiced with sumac. Rich, warm, and deeply satisfying.

Grilled Nabulsi Cheese – This homemade cheese had the perfect squeaky bite and was finished with a drizzle of fragrant nigella seed oil.

Lamb Kofta – Spiced lamb, marinated sumac onions — perfectly seasoned and charred just right. A meaty must-order.

Labaneh – Creamy, tangy, and topped with olive oil and za’atar. The kind of dip you’ll want to spread on absolutely everything.

Nigella Seed Crackers & Spiced Focaccia – Both fresh from the oven and ideal for scooping and sharing.

Batikh Salad – Compressed watermelon with chilli, cucumber, olives and almonds. A gorgeous, refreshing palate cleanser mid-meal.

The Arabic Coffee French Toast - this was a showstopper — pillowy brioche soaked in warming spices, topped with sweet whipped laban, cocoa and pistachio. A total dream.

And, in the loveliest surprise, the team brought out a birthday cake at the end, a sweet gesture that really made our day.

Drinks, Wine & Cocktails

We tried a few glasses of Palestinian wine, which are specially shipped in for Akub. This was such a beautiful way to experience a taste of the region.

There are also a range of cocktails on the menu, many of which promote and enhance the flavours of the dishes.

Overall

Akub is a restaurant that knows exactly who it is — confident, creative, and deeply connected to the food it serves. From the generous hospitality to the knockout dishes, everything about this brunch felt thoughtful and delicious.

I really enjoyed my time here, the unforgettable food and wine, and the welcoming vibes, made it one of the best brunches I’ve had in London.

If you’re looking for a beautiful brunch with real heart and flavour, Akub should be high on your list.
