Bistro St James Court Hotel restaurant review

St James' Court, A Taj Hotel, has offered many fine dining options to Londoners in the Westminster area for many years, including luxury restaurants like Quilon and Bombay Brasserie.

They have recently announced an exciting new addition to their offerings, with the launch of express Global Bento menu. Enjoyed by colleagues, friends or solo-diners, the menu puts a playful twist on the traditional Bento Box, drawing inspiration from global cuisine. This include Bento boxes from Italia, with punchy Arrabbiata and herby chicken, to the Bharat Box, a spice-infused feast inspired by Taj's Indian heritage! Served at the Bistro restaurant at the hotel, we headed down to give the food a try!

Food?

The bento boxes are available at lunchtime at Bistro and is available throughout May 2018.

We sampled the a la carte menu which features delicious starters such as a succulent sheekh kebab, samosa chaat and boulibasse.

For our main course we ordered braised Sussex lamb shank and rosemary and garlic rubbed Angus. Both dishes were delightful and thoughtfully presented. All the flavours on the plate married well and in particular the gravy and jus were divine additions to the dish

The dessert was also spectacular! There is a variety of choice but we ordered the deconstructed blackforest and sticky date and walnut pudding. Both dishes delivered exactly what is expected from a fine dining dessert. The pudding was rich and decadent whilst the blackforest was delicately constructed and delicious.

Price?

The bento boxes are priced very well at £14.95 including a soft drink/ tea or coffee or £19.95 with a glass of house red or white wine or a draught beer. This is a great price for a proper lunch at such an established venue.

The a la carte menu is priced at the high-end of the market but reflects the quality of the food served.

Overall?

Bistro is a lovely restaurant located in the opulent St James Court Hotel, making it a beautiful destination for a business lunch, leisurely meal or full dinner sitting.

I would certainly head back to sample more of the restaurants at the grand St James' Court, A Taj Hotel!
