Kayumanis Jimbaran Private Estate Bali - Hotel Review

Kayumanis Jimbaran Villa

Location: Jimbaran, Bali
Price: ££
Value for Money: 4/5
Overall: 5/5
Perfect for: Tranquillity, Beach access, private villa with large pool

Kayumanis Jimbaran Private Estate & Spa feels less like a hotel, and much more like a private oasis. This tranquil retreat is the perfect place to recharge your batteries and get some R&R.

Location

Kayumanis Jimbaran Private Estate is located approximately 15mins from the airport. It is also less than 5 minutes walk from Jimbaran Bay. This white sandy beach was almost always secluded when we visited, which is rare for a Bali beach!

Further along the beach is a line of restaurants serving freshly caught seafood, which make a great stop for an evening meal during your stay.

The hotel is also very close to a traditional fishing village and market place which sells freshly caught fish - great for if you are planning to cook during your villa stay.

Design and Character

Kayumanis Jimbaran is set on a large piece of land with gardens and this sense of space and seclusion stays with you throughout your stay.

We drove up to a minimalist open air lobby where we checked in and were then led down a long path to our private villa. Walking along this path felt like making our way down a street to our own front door, which is exactly the homely sense the hotel wants to give it’s guests.

Kayumanis Jimbaran has maintained a traditional feel to the villas, and promotes the notion of living amongst nature. The furnishings are made of dark wood which reflects well with the surrounding foliage, even though they are more sturdy than sleek. This is to be expected as the living spaces including the kitchen, are located in an outdoor, covered area, so they need to withstand the elements.

Accommodation

As you enter your front door you are lead through to a large lush space with a living area and kitchen, separate building for the bedroom, day bed area, and of course the large pool.

The spacious bedroom is en-suite, though here this means covered but still outdoors. The sink, bath and toilet are all technically outside, which is magical when taking a bath in the rain, or showering the morning sun. However is you are fearful of bugs this may be slightly disconcerting, as there is nothing keeping them out.

The bedroom features a TV, free mini-bar with soft drinks, and views of the private pool. So you could literally get up out of bed and walk straight to your pool.

The living area also features a TV, but we didn’t use this at all, as we would much rather admire the nature around us than watch a screen. There is also a comfortable couch, dining table where we had breakfast on certain mornings and afternoon tea too.

The kitchen is large and functional, but again we didn’t need to use this space during our stay, but I can see it being very useful for those staying longer or with families.

The pool was certainly the highlight of this villa, and it was great to have a private pool and sunbeds all to ourselves during the stay.

Dining

Kayumanis Resto Jimbaran

The grounds of Kayumanis Jimbaran also includes an on-site restaurant, Kayumanis Resto Jimbaran, which is located in a beautiful wooden hut nestled amongst the trees. This is where breakfast and complimentary afternoon tea can be taken, as well as lunch and dinner.

The restaurant is well-renowned for serving traditional and authentic Indonesian dishes, and has many visitors from across the island, as well as abroad.

The restaurant is open to external guests, including group bookings which are popular here, so it’s worth making a reservation if you intend to have dinner here.

Breakfast

Breakfast at Kayumanis Jimbaran can be taken at any time of day, which I loved. One of the things I do not enjoy about staying at hotels is the need to get up early to go down for breakfast, when often I just want to have a lazy morning.

There is no need to worry about that here, and you can even request breakfast to be served in your villa. This was what we did most mornings, and the breakfast didn’t take long to arrive.

The menu offers a selection of set breakfasts, including Western and Indonesian options. Each set comes with a hot drink, fresh juice, pastries and a hot plate. There is also the option to customise too.

The breakfast was always of a high quality, and it was evident that the dishes were all cooked fresh to order.

Afternoon Tea

Each afternoon the hotel will provide guests with a tea or coffee and a few local sweet snacks. This is a lovely addition to the hotel’s offering, and it is even served on an afternoon tea stand. I enjoyed having an afternoon cappuccino or iced lemon tea to cool off.

Facilities

Kayumanis Jimbaran Private Estate has a host of facilities aimed to make your stay even more relaxing.

One of these is the 24 hour complementary butler service. There will always be someone available to help with any of your needs, from restaurant tips, taxi bookings to arranging your complimentary afternoon tea and housekeeping.

There is also an on-site spa which offers a range of therapies. You can even book to enjoy the massage in your villa too.

The turndown service will not only clean up the mess of the day, but they will also burn insect repelling incense, which worked very well and lasted for hours.

Overall:

Kayumanis Jimbaran Private Estate is the perfect option for those seeking undisturbed tranquillity and their own space.

The villas are vast and the private pool large, meaning you won’t be lacking in space. The fact that there is a quiet beach only 5 minutes walk away adds to the sense of calm and tranquillity. In fact we spent a lovely evening on the beach watching the sunset and the lights from distant fireworks, after which we had a short walk back to the hotel and room service.

The staff are very friendly and always happy to help. They are also never overbearing and know when to leave guests alone which is a great skill.

If you are unsettled by creepy crawlers, the outdoor bathroom may be off-putting, however if you are travelling to embrace nature in all its tropical glory, then this is the place for you.
