Fischer’s is a beautiful cafe and restaurant located on Marylebone High Street. Their classic Viennese café menu runs from breakfast to morning coffee, through to lunch, mid-afternoon snacks and a full dinner service. But best of all, it is the perfect place to linger over a decadent and authentic Viennese coffee and cake and to celebrate Austria day, this is exactly what we did!

Would I Want Seconds?

The menus at Fischer’s includes an extensive choice of cured fish, salads, schnitzels, sausages and brötchen. As well as savory delights there is also a selection of strudels, biscuits, ice-cream coupes, hot chocolates and traditional coffees.

As it was Austrian National Day, we started our meal with complimentary champagne to celebrate, and a few canapés to line our stomachs. We were mainly after coffee and cake rather than a fill meal, so we ordered the Chocolate & Hazelnut Pudding and Franz Joseph Kaiserschmarrn, which were chopped pancake with plum compote. Both dishes were rich and moist and the warm dark chocolate of the pudding worked well with the tart plum compote from the pancakes.

We also ordered Fischer’s Hot Chocolate which was beautifully smooth, and Überstürzter which was composed of long espresso and belgian chocolate poured over whipped cream - the perfect way to end a meal!

Could I Afford Seconds?

Fischer’s is a stunningly ornate restaurant with dark wood and gold everywhere. Yet despite this the menu is not an expensive one.  Main courses range from £12 to £20 and desserts are between £6 -£8. Fischer’s also have an appealing breakfast menu  which includes traditional dishes such as Praline Bretzel and Austrian Gröstl for between £4 - £11.

Overall: 4/5

Fischer’s is both the place to come for an indulgent coffee and cake but it was works well as a venue for dinner. This multi-aspect nature of Fischer’s make it the type of restaurant which diners are likely to return to over and over again.
