Philips essential airfryer review

I have been an admirer of air fryers for a long time now. Compared to oven cooking, food comes out crispier and crunchier with more flavour, and cooking time is sometimes halved due to the air flow design which allows hot air to encapsulate the whole surface area of the food. As far as air fryers go, I wholeheartedly recommend one in every household, they really are that good when it comes to frying, baking, roasting and grilling all manner of dishes.

However, with an array of different models, sizes, and features, it can be daunting finding an airfryer that’s perfect for you and your family. Hopefully by sharing my thoughts on the Philips Essential Airfryer, you can decide for yourself if it’s the right air fryer for you.

As a trusted manufacturer of high-quality kitchen and electrical appliances, I was certainly excited to test the Philips Essential Airfryer out.

Design:

The appliance looks smart and sophisticated, with an all-black design and glossy finish. It’s also surprisingly compact and doesn’t take up too much counter space, always a bonus! This model has a 0.8KG/4.1L capacity which is a good size for a 1-3 person household but Philips do also sell a larger 1.2Kg, 6.2L version that is more suited for larger families.

Features:

The air fryer has a unique “starfish” design at it’s base which Philips claims swirls hot air around more efficiently, resulting in better tasting food. My previous air fryer didn’t have this so I was eager to see if it made a difference.

There is a LED touchscreen display with 7 preset programs for cooking specific food including fries, meat, fish, cake and chicken drumsticks. The LED display is clear and easy to use

There’s also a fantastic Keep Warm mode, which will allow food to remain at the ideal temperature for up to 30 minutes. I personally like to cook ahead of time but find myself having to reheat food if I get sidetrack so this is a great feature for me.

Another standout feature is the accompanying Philips app which is loaded with over 500 recipes and cooking tips to allow you to get the most of the air fryer. Sometimes, accompanying apps can be a bit of a letdown but this app is anything but. I really enjoyed reading through and making the recipes listed including -

Overall:

After using the Philips Essential Airfryer I can wholeheartedly recommend it if you are looking for a compact airfryer that cooks food to perfection. I have put the airfryer through the ringer and it has consistently delivered fantastic results. The starfish design really does make a difference, with food being even more flavourful and crispy that my previous airfryer. The LED touch panel is extremely easy to use and the 7 presets come in handy for cooking.
