Restaurant Review: Trishna, Marylebone

Restaurant Review: Trishna, Marylebone

Trishna Restaurant Review, Marylebone, London

Cuisine: Traditional Indian
Style Points: 4/5
Price: ££
Overall: 5/5

Trishna has a minimalist edgy type of decor which makes it very swish indeed. The restaurant is decked with marble, oak and glass which is manipulated into clean smooth surfaces and edges. This creates a very urban classy interior design which isn’t over bearing. Instead the candle lit table and grey hues on the wall are more energising than stuffy.

In this way Trishna is the setting for a casual, chilled out gathering with the back drop of a sociable buzz. As the dining space is quite intimate, the restaurant doesn’t lack in atmosphere even with a few diners present.

In addition, the restaurant’s French doors can be opened out creating an alfresco feel without actually having to sit outside and there’s a private dining room in the basement too.

Would I Want Seconds?

Yes, though judging by the generous portion sizes I wouldn’t be able to fit it in!

The restaurant claims to have a focus on seafood but they serve up a variety of fusion Indian dishes meaning you don’t have to like fish to enjoy the food here. Their dishes are unconventional but definitely appetizing.

And to my intense pleasure, Trishna serves the best potato chaat I’ve had in London. The perfect balance of sweet yogurt and tamarind chutney won me over straight away.

Could I Afford Seconds?

Although this isn’t a high end restaurant just yet, the prices are quite on the steep side of things. However, as with many restaurants these days, Trishna offers a range of deals and menus. This includes three courses for £18 on their lunch bites option and 4 courses for £20 on the early evening menu.

Overall: 5/5

Trishna has had a lot of slack about their service but they have polished this up so that you are greeted warmly as you enter and helpfully assisted throughout your meal.

The dining offers make Trishna worth even more of a visit so I would recommend it as something for everyone in the mood for Indian with a twist to try.
