The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London has been on my list of places I’d love to dine, and when I saw the Afternoon Tea offering, I couldn’t resist! After all the hotel is one of London's greatest landmarks. The Victorian Gothic style masterpiece designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott opened its doors in 1873 and is still going strong.

There are a few dining options in the hotel, one of which is the well known Booking Office Bar. The Afternoon Tea menu is served in the central foyer area, named The Hansom.

The Venue:

The Hansom dining space is set in the very centre of the hotel and offers beautiful views of the architecture, as well as some great people watching too.

The Hansom is currently offering a glamorous LK Bennett Afternoon Tea, in partnership with the luxury British brand. We took our seats to give this a go and were served our glasses of Champagne to start us off, as well as any tea or coffee we desired.

Afternoon Tea:

Inspired by the chic colours, intricate prints and contemporary designs of LK Bennett's collection, the St Pancras hotel's talented pastry team have created a stylish afternoon tea set to inspire guests.

Our Afternoon Tea began with a selection of savour sandwiches, including egg and truffle mayonnaise with chives on spinach bread, roast Norfolk turkey, wild cranberry and thyme compote with watercress on walnut bread, and crayfish, avocado, citrus mayonnaise and cress served on golden brioche.

Next were freshly baked, warm scones, with clotted cream and jam. These were delicious and brought us very close to getting quite full!

But when we saw the selection of cakes, we couldn’t help but dig in and give them a try! Highlights of the sweet treats on offer include the LK Choux bun, Berry Stylish, A Winter Rose, Death By Chocolate and The Velvet Dream. They were all decadent and divine in flavour - thankfully we could take away the ones we couldn’t finish.

The afternoon tea is paired with a selection of loose tea, including sparkling tea, as well as coffee.

Price:

The Afternoon Tea at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel is priced at £46 per person, and includes a glass of sparkling wine too. Considering the luxury nature of the venue and the quality ingredients, this is a well priced option.

Overall?

I really enjoyed dining at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, especially as the service makes you feel as if you are in a luxury setting. The waitress introduced herself and took good care of us throughout our experience.

I also appreciated that there wasn’t a limit on the amount of tea or coffee you could try whilst also being able to sample different flavours too. Often hotels will charge extra if you want a coffee or hot chocolate instead of a tea, and they make you stick to the same tea through the experience - which I think is quite cheeky.

Overall I’d highly recommend afternoon tea at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel for Londoners, and anyone visiting London too!

Enjoy a range of delightful treats of the LK Bennett Afternoon Tea with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine - available Thursday, Friday and Sunday until 31st March 2022.
