The Lensbury Hotel Staycation

A Weekend Staycation at the Lensbury Hotel

Location: Teddington
Price: ££
Value for Money: 4/5
Overall: 4/5
Perfect for: Long weekends, London, Activities

The Lensbury is a four-star hotel located on the banks of the River Thames in Teddington. Featuring everything from fitness classes, kayaking sessions, an in-house spa and dining options, this hotel has a lot to offer.

Location:

The Lensbury is set in 25 acres of manicured grounds, on the banks of the River Thames, in lush Teddington. Its location offers excellent access to Central London, as it is only about 40 minutes about, as well as Heathrow Airport.

Accommodation at The Lensbury Hotel

We parked in one of the many free parking sports when we arrived, and after navigating the hustle and bustle of reception, which always seemed to be very busy, we checked into our room.

We stayed in a Deluxe Room in the main building. The room was beautifully styled with elegant decor, with a generous amount of space to move around in. Our room also had views of the vast grounds and the River Thames beyond it.

The room had many added comforts, including Egyptian cotton sheets, air-conditioning, fridge with complimentary water, large flat-screen TV, docking station, Espresso coffee machine and complimentary high speed Wi-Fi.

We enjoyed a restful and quiet night’s sleep, which was perfect, as even though the hotel is large and busy, their rooms are closed off from the buzz.

Dining at The Lensbury Hotel

Meals are served in the Lounge Restaurant which is a vast space and includes an al fresco dining option in the Summer too.

The a la carte menu is relaxed and inclusive, offering dishes such as stone-baked pizzas, fish and chips, salads and vegetarian and vegan options too. We had dinner at the Lounge Restaurant and enjoyed a delicious three course meal with friendly service and good recommendations.

The Lounge Restaurant offers seasonal menu choices as well as specials such as a barbecue in the Summer and traditional Sunday roast on Sundays.

Breakfast at The Lensbury

Breakfast is also served in the same space and is a buffet selection with a lot of choice, including fresh baked bread, cooked breakfast and healthy options too.

There are times when breakfast can get quite busy so it is worth checking with reception if you want to avoid the buffet queues.

Facilities at The Lensbury

The Lensbury offers unrivalled indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including a state-of-the-art health club with a 25-metre indoor pool, a spa and body wellness clinic, and a watersports centre that offers sailing, sculling, kayaking, canoeing and motor boat hire.On the 25 acres of grounds there are also 24 tennis and squash courts.

It is worth a note that although the pool is large, it is more of a sports pool than for relaxing in, as such there are no loungers located around the pool. The sauna and steam room are also located within the changing rooms, so you won’t be able to enjoy it with a partner of the opposite sex.

Overall

I was impressed with the high level of finish and comfort levels of our room, which made for a very enjoyable night’s sleep.

We stayed at the hotel during the school holidays, which meant the whole hotel was very busy almost all of the time. As the hotel is a destination for families and kids, I would recommend checking the dates of your visit if you are looking for a more relaxed stay.
