Pizza Express, St Mark’s Centre, Bromley - Review

Pizza Express review Bromley

As a North Londoner I rarely cross over the river to explore the other side, but having heard such great things about it, I decided to head down and have a look.

I visited the newly developed St Mark’s Centre just by Bromley South station and attended the launch of the new branch of the pizza icon, Pizza Express.

Pizza Express has been serving up handmade pizzas since 1965, and the new branch in St Mark’s Centre is a very well designed space. With soft blue hues, plush seating and artwork harking back to Bromley’s history, this branch doesn’t feel like a standard chain restaurant, but instead is a relaxed space to enjoy a lovely meal.

Food?

I have my favourites from the Pizza Express menu which I always order, but this time I wanted to try something different.

I ordered the Dough Balls Doppio, which are a sharing portion of the famous Pizza Express Dough Balls, and are served with a trio of dips including pesto, garlic butter and harissa spiced tomato dip. As always these were delicious and very enjoyable.

For my main I ordered a new pizza from the menu, the mushroom and truffle pizza. Featuring sliced Portobello and closed cup mushrooms, as well as mozzarella, ricotta, fresh rosemary and garlic oil, and then finished off gorgeous truffle oil and shaved Gran Milano cheese.

The menu also features new cocktails, from which I tried the Winter Rum Punch, a warming and festive drink. They also have enticing new desserts and hot drinks, especially as part of their Christmas menu.

Price?

Pizza Express serves quality food for an accessible price, and although this new branch has a very plush and relaxed feel about it, the prices are still great value for money. Which means dining here feel like dining out at a high-end restaurant but for much less.

Overall:

I was really impressed with the new branch of Pizza Express in St Mark’s Centre. The restaurant’s decor is very well designed and the space lends itself to group dining. The staff are also passionate and very friendly at this branch too.

I really enjoyed my food and saw much more on the festive menu that I was tempted by, meaning a trip back is on the cards!
