Everyone knows the saying that ‘the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.’ But what they never mention is the food in question. After visiting Marco Pierre White’s London Steakhouse Company in Chelsea, I am without doubt that they have the finest cuts of high quality steak to please the man or woman in your life.

The restaurant itself is quite compact in size but with the dimmed lighting and romantic music, it lends itself to an intimate dining space where you can enjoy a good meal and conversation with the special one in your life. It is very much a refined establishment, where all the diners are smart and respectable in both attire and persona. The result is a laid-back and calm environment where you can only hear the whispers of faint conversations above the music.

Food?

Our waiter was really friendly and attentive and we decided to go with he’s recommendation on many of our dishes. We started with a delicious potted duck and green peppercorn and toasted sourdough and burrata salad served with luscious purple figs.

These delicious dishes set the scene for our main course. As expected there’s a selection of the finest cuts of steak from Master butcher Aubrey Allen including Ribeye and Centre Cut Fillet as well as non-steak mains including the fish of the day, spatchcock poussin and spinach and ricotta ravioli. We decided on the 14oz ribeye with peppercorn sauce and house fries and the fish of the day, which was pan-fried sea bass with LSC onion rings.

We asked for medium rare and it was spot on. The steak melted in the mouth and was perfectly paired with a creamy peppercorn sauce that for me is the ultimate steak sauce.

The sea bass was a big portion and again perfectly cooked and beautifully flaky and white. It was served on a bed of salad which complimented it perfectly.

For dessert our waiter recommended a classic sticky toffee pudding and a scrumptious and light chocolate and pistachio crème brûlée. Both desserts were the perfect decadent end to a lovely meal.

Price?

The prices at London Steakhouse in Chelsea can be steep, with starters ranging from about £10 and main courses costing approximately £20-£30.

However, the restaurant does offer an appealing set menu priced at £29.50 which makes dining here much more affordable.

Overall?

I’ve visited a few branches of London Steakhouse and this Chelsea branch is my favourite. Although it is small, it has a cosy feel to it which takes away the formality of dining at a high end restaurant. The staff are also friendly and professional and the food is served to a high standard.
