Moroccan Afternoon Tea at Momo

Situated just behind Regent’s Street in the rather swish Heddon street, Momo is an elegant up-scale Moroccan restaurant with style.

The entrance and outside terrace area is lush with welcoming foliage whilst the inside dining room is full of authentically styled carved wood, luxurious fabrics and atmospheric lighting reflecting off crystal glasses. This is then topped off with cosmopolitan finish making it unique from the many heavily souk styled Moroccan restaurants in the capital.

The restaurant consists of four spaces: restaurant, café and bar, outdoor terrace and basement bar and club and all these sections are worth exploring. For our Afternoon Tea we choose to sit the lush outdoor space and take in the atmosphere as well as last of the remaining autumn sunshine.

Would I Want Seconds?

Momo’s Moroccan Afternoon Tea is designed to provide an essence of Morocco in every bite. Each of the ingredients traditionally found in Afternoon Tea have been expertly recrafted and added to the menu.

When our stand arrived each dish looked stunning and beautifully presented; we couldn’t wait to get started. We started with the sandwiches which included smoked salmon sandwich with cream cheesezaalouk and mechouia on toastMoroccan chicken wrap, all of which were delicious.

I then moved onto the rather large scones which were served with clotted cream with a sprig of mint leaves added to it as well as delicious strawberry and fig jam.

There were also creamy cheese briouats and Maghrebine pastries. By this point we were quite full but had to try the final layer of lemon cream pain de genepistachio macaroon and the gorgeous chocolate brownie with chocolate mousse.

Our mint tea was constantly refilled throughout our meal and sitting in the outdoor space meant we could also indulge in shisha at the same time too.

There are also vegetarian, vegan and dairy free afternoon tea options available which are equally delicious.

Could I Afford Seconds?

The Moroccan Afternoon Tea at Momo’s is very well priced in comparison to other Afternoon Tea options available in London.

The standard Afternoon Tea selection costs £22 per person and £32 with an additional glass of champagne. This is a more than reasonable price for the amount and quality of food and tea on offer.

Overall?

Momo’s has always been one of my top London restaurants for dinner or drinks in their Marrakesh-souk-meets-Parisian-troquet styled bar. I am also happy to say that their Afternoon Tea also lives up to expectations.
