Review: Inamo - New Season, New Menu

Review: Inamo - New Season, New Menu

Style Points: 5/5
Price: £££
Overall: 5/5

Inamo is one of my favourite restaurants in London and one which I dine at frequently, so when I heard they had a new menu to showcase I couldn’t wait to make another visit!

Inamo is probably one of London’s most innovative restaurants due to its concept of using e-tables to order as well as entertain. This interactive and fun element makes it a must visit destination, however my reason for dining here so often is not just the endless entertainment provided by the unique surroundings, but it is also the high quality of the food served. This elevates Inamo and means that it is not just a gimack, it’s a dining destination.

Would I Want Seconds?

From my previous visits to Inamo I had already decided what my favourite dishes were and these included tiger prawns and the miso and yuzu salmon, however on this visit I had a variety of new dishes to try from the new menu.

I particularly like the Asian Tapas section of the menu, as it allows diners to try a range of dishes and flavours and share these across the table. We decided to order a series of smaller tapas style dishes this time rather than choosing from the larger dishes on the classic menu.

We started with the crispy Soft Shell Crab Maki Rolls were five rolls are served with creamy inamo house special sauce and rolled with avocado and chives. These were divine and a highly recommend dish as a starter or a sharing plate.

As salmon is my favourite fish, I couldn’t resist ordering the Salmon Sashimi Plate. This arrived as freshly cut salmon served with sushi gari, wasabi paste, rock chives and shiso cress. Adding to the salmon on the table we also ordered some tradition Salmon and Cucumber Hosomaki rolls, which were perfect for sharing and grazing on.

One of my favourite dishes from the new menu is the Korean Chicken Wings. These fried chicken wings, glazed in Korean BBQ sauce and served with a sprinkling of delicious baked desiccated fine coconut can be ordered as an alternative to the sushi plates and add a delectable addition to the meal.

We also enjoyed the Tuna Tartare, an novel new dish which was a delicate and beautiful dish of diced raw tune seasoned with truffle miso sauce.

We had wanted to also try the Sweet Mango Pork Belly, which is another addition to the new menu, however despite ordering mainly tapas and sharing style dishes by this point we were stuffed and couldn’t try anymore!

The drinks menu at Inamo has also been revamped alongside the food. I tried a delicious Appleberry Mojito made with mint leaves, white sugar and blackberries and we also sampled the non-alcoholic Tropical Storm made of a blend of passion fruit, lime and guava juice and even cinnamon. Both drinks were very enjoyable, if a little high on sugar!

Could I Afford Seconds?

The prices of the dishes on the Asian tapas menu range quite a bit from £5 for three pieces of Squid and Spring Onion Dim Sum to £8.95 for the Tuna Tartare. This is well priced for the portion sizes and for the fact that these dishes are made for sharing.

If you prefer dining from the larger dishes then this will cost a bit more, starting at £13 and going up to £18.

However Inamo do also have a very tempting set menu offering three courses for £20 and includes some of my favourites such as Spicy Aubergine for starers and Salmon Teriyaki with rice as a main course. This is amazing value for money and provides a perfect opportunity to test out the restaurant and their innovative concept!

The cocktails here cost standard London prices of between £7 to £10 but they are top quality drinks made with expertise and definitely worth a try.

Overall: 5/5

The new menu at Inamo adds an extra dimension to the restaurant. Instead of focusing primarily on fish and sushi dishes this new menu offers a wider range of pan-asian options and as a result caters to wider tastes, though unfortunately there is a limited choice for vegetarians.

As always the ordering process at Inamo was efficient and service was speedy, something which Inamo should pride themselves on. This combined with the concept of interactive dining experience mean that Inamo is a restaurant I would recommend everyone to try atleast once.
