Lounge Bar, Club and Restaurant: DSTRKT London

Restaurant review: DSTRKT London

Style Point: 4/5
Price: £££
Overall: 3/5

DSTRKT London is known more as a lounge bar and club than for its food offerings, however with their eclectic menu and ever-growing VIP fan base I decided to try out their tasting menu and see what they had to offer.

Once past the burly bouncers, the restaurant is located down a stairwell and is a glossy split level space. It’s a lavish restaurant with sexy lighting and classy decor suited to the high end exclusive venue that Dstrkt is. There is even a chic open kitchen located towards the back of the restaurant where diners can see their dishes being created.

What's on the menu?

The cocktail menu at Dstrkt London is immensely tempting with a wide range on offer including Prosecco and Champagne based cocktails.

Additionally, rather than focusing on a cuisine, the food menu at Dstrkt is a combination to Japanese, modern European cuisine, and various charcoal grilled dishes too. These are all served as sharing plates.

Our meal started with a mixed sushi platter with a  large collection of sushi rolls and nigiri. We then sampled some vegetable spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce which were crispy but slightly under-filled. Our final starter was an addictive bowl of crispy squid with sweet chili sauce and lime which were my favourite.

The main courses dishes were also served on a sharing basis and from a variety of cuisines. They included grilled salmon and succulent spinach ravioli with broccoli florets, butter and nutmeg. Similarly to our starters, the quality of the dishes was mixed, as the ravioli was deliciously creamy, but the fish happened to be dry in the middle.

Finally for dessert we tried a classic creamy raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake with tangy mixed berries, ending our meal on a sweet treat.

Could I afford to dine here again?

The menu at Dstrkt London has a variety of sections including grill, Japanese and sushi, within which the dishes are priced differently. As a result, by avoiding the dishes in the robata charcol grill for example, it is possible to have a reasonably priced meal.

However Dstrkt is a lavish restaurant and the point of dining here is to do so lavishly, which eventually adds up to a pricy meal.

Overall?

The subtly lit surroundings at Dstrkt London provides a sophisticated touch to the atmosphere, making it a modern and classy restaurant to dine in. However the menu is very diverse with no clear speciality which means that the food, flavours and textures don’t quite stand out as much as you would expect.

However Dstrkt is a destination for a VIP night out where the sharing plate concept and variety of dishes work very well for group dining. I would recommend dining here as part of a classy, fun, night out with a large group of people as this is what Dstrkt does best.
