Tried & Tested: Cuisinart Cordless Pro Hand Blender

Cuisinart Cordless Pro Hand Blender - Review

A good quality hand blender is a kitchen gadget I’ve been in need of for a long time. I gave the Cuisinart Cordless Pro Hand Blender a go, as I loved the idea of being able to move around the kitchen with it. Here’s my honest and in-depth review.

Highlights:

  • High power performance

  • Long battery life

  • Sleek design with ergonomic handle

  • Cordless and quick to set up

  • Versatile and time and space saving

With many of us still stuck at home and experimenting more in the kitchen, there is a strong temptation to buy every kitchen gadget and gizmo under the sun. However, buying lots of expensive kit doesn’t necessarily make your life easier, especially if you have a compact kitchen where space is a priceless commodity and spare sockets are a rare sight.

The Cuisinart Cordless Pro Hand Blender may be the ultimate solution for these woes as it is essentially a 3-in-1 gadget that can carry out common kitchen tasks including blending, whisking, chopping and mixing. What’s more, as the name suggests, it is cordless, meaning it is super convenient to use without giving you any headaches over where to plug it in. In fact, the main body is charged by a lithium ion battery that is chargeable by the USB provided, which makes it even more convenient to charge. My mobile phone charger plug has a USB attachment and I’ve just been using it to charge the Pro Hand Blender. Simple!

Features & Design:

In the box, you get the main body along with a whisk attachment, blending shaft, mini chopper, blending jug, usg cable and plug. It is packed compactly and comes with a very handy recipe book filled with plenty of creative ways to make the most out of each of the accessories.

In terms of charging, the indicator lights on the top of the main body will flash blue when the battery is being charged and is fully charged once all three lights are illuminated. It takes 130 minutes to power up the device for 30 minutes continuous use, which I’ve found to be more than enough time to carry out all my cooking needs at one time. In one go, I used it to whisk pancake batter, blend a fruit smoothie, and chop/mix a salsa dip and it performed without any issues. What’s more, the performance was excellent and carried out each task perfectly. I used the whisk attachment to whip up a simple cake mix and the result was comparable to a stand mixer in less time.

Usability & Performance:

To use the machine, you press and hold the ‘safety unlock’ button until the blue lights illuminate and then press the power button to start it. At first, it did take some getting used to as the machine doesn’t work unless the power button is pressed almost immediately after pressing the ‘safety unlock’ button. This means if you’re using the whisk and stop for more than a second, you must use the unlock button again before it will work. Once you use it a few times you do get used to it but I was a bit confused at first I must admit!

The main body is comfortable in the hand and has a good ergonomic grip on it but it is definitely a little on the heavy side. It is expected for a powerful cordless device and you are just holding the machine in place for most of the time but it is worth noting if you are expecting a lightweight appliance. I also wish that the end of the device was flat so you could place it upright on the counter as this would be convenient if you’re whisking a batter and need to put the device down to add further ingredients half-way through whisking for example. It’s not a dealbreaker but can be annoying if you don’t have a spare set of hands around.

The whisk attachment is fantastic for quickly whipping up meringues and batters in no time at all and the blending shaft is great for making smoothies, soups, purees and much more. The blending jug is also great and safe for use with ingredients up to 100°C. The mini chopper is really effective at chopping vegetables and herbs, making breadcrumbs and dips but the 250ml capacity is rather small. It is a mini chopper after all and perhaps larger compatible chopper bowls will be available at a later date.

Overall:

Overall, the Cuisinart Cordless Pro Hand Blender is a brilliant device that will become a kitchen staple once you experience the convenience of it. When you want to quickly whip up a batter or make a smoothie and can’t be bothered with bringing large clunky appliances out of the cupboard, this cordless gadget will be a lifesaver. What’s more, the performance is very impressive and definitely holds its own for each of its uses. It isn’t by all means perfect, the main body is quite heavy, the machine turns off too quickly for my liking and you can;t stand it upright. But these are by and large minor issues and don’t take away from the high power performance of the machine.

If you’re spending more time in the kitchen and are looking for convenient ways to save time as well as counter space then the Cuisinart Pro Hand Blender is a machine that will more than deliver.
