Nothing can get swankier than rising to the top of one of London’s stunning buildings to be greeted by a lush public garden framing a view of the city skyline. Add to this a restaurant with a view of the Sky Garden as well as the city beyond it and you know you’re in for a meal worth savouring.

Darwin Brasserie is located on the top of the Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street (the Walkie Talkie) and once diner’s are past the airport style security they can enjoy the public garden and the incredible panoramic views of London. There is also a Sky Pod Bar located in the garden for those who want to enjoy a drink before or after their meal and it’s worth arriving well before your reservation in order to take it all in.

Would I Want Seconds?

Once settled in at our table at Darwin Brasserie and after having soaked up the view, we set about ordering. As we were told the starters were quite small and a shareable size, we skipped straight to the main course.

I ordered the mushroom and ricotta ravioli with roasted salsify, baked celeriac and rosemary butter. This was a delicious dish with melt-in-the-mouth ravioli and subtle flavours. We also tried the butternut squash and basil risotto with Tunworth cheese, which ended up being quite a heavy dish, as well as roast sea bream with crushed jerusalem artichokes, crispy kale and a side of triple cooked chips.

Each of our main course were scrumptious and filling, to the point that we decided on ordering another of their luscious Christmas theme cocktails instead of a dessert. The old fashioned nut cracker was particularly appealing and seasonal!

Could I Afford Seconds?

As with most London restaurants based in sky high locations, the prices rise with the height of the building. Our main courses all around £20 and drinks were approximately £10.

However Darwin Brasserie is a destination restaurant which can be combined with a visit to the Sky Garden too, making it into a special occasion. This combined trip as well as the quality of the views and food justifies a meal at Darwin Brasserie.

Overall:

A trip to the Sky Garden and a meal at Darwin Brasserie makes for a scrumptious day out in the City. I would recommend heading to the top of the Walkie Talkie to take in the views and try some decadent food.
